Accountability

Back in Seattle, I had a lot of free time on my hands, and low social inertia (struggling with existential crises about what to do with the next few months, let alone the rest of your life, will do that to you). That led me to spend a lot of time on the internet, a bit mindlessly, but a bit out of the desire to connect with people outside my geographical circle. I’ve been a lot of places – sometimes I feel like a stretched net, with anchor points all around the world.

But now that I am once more a Gainfully Employed Person, I have much less free time to sit and ponder. On top of that, here I am in a new country faced with food to try, a language to learn, people to befriend, mannerisms and habits to decode. So many things are interesting and strange and new here, and I think a lot of them would be interesting for you all to read about. I’m constantly thinking about blog subject matter. But the problem is, the busier I am, the less inclined I am to use my free time to stare at the computer screen. Which means the blog gets a bit dusty.

At the same time, I enjoy writing. I enjoy the idea that here, I can write for an audience. I enjoy the idea that my audience is people I care about who are interested in my life. And I enjoy the idea of flaunting all the neat things I’ve been experiencing. So I want to make time to try and keep this thing going.

Up and coming (in theory):

Fast and hard Korea observations

Overnight at a Buddhist temple

“Teaching” at an English academy
